Have you seen last week’s viral video of a Klansman wearing FUBU sneakers at a pro-confederate flag rally in Georgia? The reporter who questioned this confused person was George Chidi, an independent journalist, political commentator, Pine Lake City Council Member, and this week’s guest on the Crummy Little Podcast.
It was quite a week for George, who also made the front page of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution calling out the DeKalb County Commission for railroading a funding proposal for a $12 million soccer stadium. And, perhaps most importantly of all, he found some time to join the Crummy Little Podcast for a fantastic discussion of local government corruption and the future of media.

Extras:
- George did some great reporting on the $12 million stadium deal DeKalb county cut with Arthur Blank (who, aside from Atlanta’s new MLS franchise, also owns the Falcons). Here’s his preview story for the Commission’s vote, and here’s the aftermath.
- As aforementioned, George’s viral video about ironic footwear blew up online last week. But he wrote a great follow-up article after the rally, too, which hasn’t gotten quite as much attention. He writes about the fact that the FUBU-clad-Klansman was getting kicked out of the rally by its organizers and attendees, who had little patience for his unvarnished hate.
- George does video editorials for the Fox affiliate in Atlanta. Check out this one where he argues that, despite its racist past, no, you can’t blow up Stone Mountain.
- You can keep up with George’s work on Peach Pundit and Atlanta Magazine, subscribe to George’s channel on YouTube, or follow him on Facebook. Wherever you find his work, you’re going to read or see something good, that’s for sure.
